What is the Process of a Home Energy Performance Audit?

 

How do I prepare for the energy audit?

  1. Gather current utility bills.
    1. Electric, Gas and Water
  2. Clear access if possible to registers, attic access(s), fireplace(s), water heater(s), furnace (if in garage).
  3. Make sure an adult will be present if children will be home.
  4. Plan to be home for the audit.
    1. Assist the Auditor in learning how you live in your home (temperature settings, light usage, etc.).
    2. Auditor will provide money saving suggestions you can implement yourself.


What should I expect?

  1. The certified BPI Building Analyst and RESNET HERS Rater will be in your house 1-6 hours based on the size of your home.
  2. The rater will arrive in a personal vehicle with the equipment and tools needed for your audit.
  3. An assistant if needed will arrive in his/hers own personal vehicle.
